Samsung's recent “Galaxy Z TriFold” trademark, spotted by GalaxyClub, fits its foldable branding strategy, though analysts note the final name may change, as brands often register multiple options ahead of official product launches

Samsung's much-speculated tri-fold smartphone appears closer to launch, with new developments suggesting an official debut in October 2025. A trademark application filed in South Korea has hinted at a possible name — “Galaxy Z TriFold” — reigniting speculation about the device's arrival and features.

The trademark, spotted by GalaxyClub, follows Samsung’s pattern of registering multiple potential names in advance of product launches. While “Galaxy Z TriFold” aligns with its existing foldable branding, analysts caution the final name could differ, as companies often explore various options during development.

The most credible indication of a launch timeline comes from well-known tipster Ice Universe, who claims Samsung is targeting an October release. This estimate matches recent comments by Samsung’s mobile division head TM Roh, who stated during the Unpacked event that the company was actively working on a tri-fold model for launch “later this year.” Though Roh did not provide specific dates, the alignment of insider reports lends credibility to an October rollout.

Tri-fold brings premium innovation

Leaks suggest the tri-fold phone may feature a large 10-inch display that folds in two places, using Samsung’s advanced flexible OLED panels. The device is also expected to be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. With its cutting-edge hardware and innovative design, the phone is likely to carry a premium price tag — estimated at over $2,900 (approximately ₹2.5 lakh).

Sources indicate the tri-fold may initially launch only in South Korea and China, allowing Samsung to evaluate market response before considering a broader global release. This phased approach reflects caution with a new form factor and evolving user expectations.

Although the tri-fold was absent from Samsung’s latest Unpacked event, the company introduced the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and a more affordable Galaxy Flip 7 FE, all showcasing improvements in design, performance, and AI integration. The Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic also debuted, featuring slimmer builds and on-device Gemini AI capabilities.

If Samsung follows through on its October timeline, the tri-fold smartphone could usher in a new chapter for foldables, combining innovation, luxury, and functionality in one futuristic device.
