Students have raised concerns over alleged marking discrepancies, missing answer-sheet pages and technical glitches after the declaration of Class 12 board results, leading to a surge in revaluation applications at CBSE’s Ludhiana regional office.

The announcement of Class 12 results by the CBSE has triggered widespread concern among students, with thousands applying for revaluation after spotting alleged errors in their answer sheets and final scores. According to sources, the CBSE regional office in Ludhiana has already received more than 17,000 revaluation applications across various streams and subjects.

The unusually high number of requests has reportedly created a major backlog, slowing the verification process and increasing anxiety among students awaiting revised results. Several students have claimed that the marks awarded on their digitally evaluated answer sheets do not match the final scores uploaded on the CBSE portal.

Students have also reported mistakes in the calculation of totals, alleging that marks awarded to individual answers were not added correctly in some cases. Many approached the board for rechecking only after identifying such discrepancies while reviewing scanned copies of their answer sheets.

Technical glitches add to student frustration

Apart from concerns over marking errors, students have also complained about technical problems linked to the board’s online systems. Several candidates reported server issues while accessing answer sheets, while others claimed that uploaded copies were blurred or incomplete.

In some cases, students alleged that the same answer-sheet page appeared twice on the portal, whereas important pages were missing entirely. These issues reportedly made it difficult for students to independently verify their marks before applying for revaluation.

Efforts to contact the board have also become a challenge for many students and parents. According to complaints, the official helpline frequently disconnects before queries can be addressed.

Teachers involved in the rechecking process have meanwhile expressed concerns over operational difficulties. Some educators said they are being asked to visit regional centres whenever answer sheets related to their subjects become available, even amid extreme weather conditions.

Digital evaluation system faces questions

The problems have once again drawn attention to CBSE’s newly implemented On-Screen Marking system for Class 12 examinations. The digital evaluation process was introduced to reduce human error, automate calculations and improve transparency by enabling answer sheets to be scanned and checked electronically.

However, the large number of revaluation requests and complaints has raised fresh questions about the effectiveness of the system during its early implementation phase.

CBSE had recently extended the deadline for obtaining scanned photocopies of answer books due to heavy traffic on its website. Students were later given a limited window to apply for verification and re-evaluation after receiving the scanned copies.
