Escort website uploads obscene photos of Mumbai businessman’s family members, demands money to delete

A South Mumbai-based businessmen has lodged a police complaint stating that a cyber-crook extorted over Rs 50,000 from him for removing obscene content featuring the members of his family on a website that offered escort services. Moreover, the accused had also posted the complainant’s contact number along with “derogatory” details about the members of his family. According to the police, an unknown caller called the complainant on Wednesday morning. As the complainant answered the call, the person on the line told him to make an online payment for using escort services. The complainant disconnected the call saying that he did not take any escort services. After some time, the businessman received a link via text message on his mobile phone. As he clicked on the link, he was directed to an escort services website. He was shocked to notice obscene pictures of his family members, along with their information and his contact number. The complainant then dialled the accused and made a request to take down the obscene content featuring his family members. The accused demanded money for doing that. The complaint transferred a sum of Rs 52,000 in three online transactions on different occasions and continued to demand more money. The affected businessman approached the Malabar Hill Police and filed a complaint against the unidentified accused.
