Google is developing a new Truecaller-like app

Google is preparing to launch a new avatar of its ‘Phone by Google’ that is a reliable caller ID app like Truecaller. Google hasn’t revealed anything officially about the app. According to news reports, the app will be called Google Call and will provide caller ID and spam protection.
This app is not yet available on Google Play which means it can be expected that Google to roll out this app very soon. Information about this new app was found from an ad on YouTube. The ad has already revealed the name and logo of the Google Call app and the ad says that its “lets you answer with confidence”. It would be interesting to see whether or not the re-branded Phone by Google will be able to attract Truecaller users.
Google Phone app recently got new features like read out caller name and more. The Google Phone app is available for non-Pixel phones and now the app has got a new Caller ID announcement feature. This feature reads out the name and phone number of the caller when the screen is locked. Google also added auto-deletion of older Call Screen recordings and transcriptions after 30 days.
The Phone app also added a “Saved voicemails” shortcut in the voicemail tab along with other minor features. Google’s Phone app served as the primary dialer app for Pixel-series phones and a few Android One smartphones. However, now Google is expanding its Phone app support for more Android smartphones. Recently, Google released the beta version of the app on Google Play.
